TITLE:  Iowa 400, Madison County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 400 begins in the City of Truro and proceeds northeasterly to the Madison‑Warren county line approximately one mile north and three miles east of the City of Truro.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑400‑0 (3), between the City of Truro and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 400 from Center Street northerly and easterly to the east corporation line of Truro to city jurisdiction on September 15, 1980.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑400‑0 (2), between Madison County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 400 from the east corporation line of the City of Truro easterly, northerly and easterly to the Madison‑Warren County line at a point near the E ¼ Corner Section 12‑T74N‑R26W to county juris­diction on September 15, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Iowa 400 in Madison County from the primary road system.

 

Remove Iowa 400 and its extension in Madison County as follows:

 

Truro:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street at Center Street; thence northerly and easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Truro connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly following substantially the center section line of Section 15‑T74N‑R26W to a point approximately 500 feet west of E ¼ Corner Section 15‑T74N-R26W; thence curving in a north­easterly direction to a point approximately 500 feet north of E ¼ Corner Section 15‑T74N‑R26W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 14 and 11-T74N-­R26W to a point approximately 600 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 11‑T74N‑R26W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 600 feet east of the W ¼ Corner said Section 11; thence easterly following substantially the center section line of Sections 11 and 12‑T74N‑R26W to the Madison‑Warren County line at a point near the E ¼ Corner Section 12‑T74N‑R26W, Madison County (W ¼ Corner Section 7‑T74N‑R25W, Warren County).

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 400 in Madison County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new des­cription added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

 

Iowa 400 begins in Truro and travels in a northeasterly dir­ection to the Warren‑Madison County line approximately 3 ½ miles northeast of the City of Truro, Iowa.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Iowa 400 and its extension in Madison County, Iowa as follows:

Truro:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street at Center Street; thence northerly and easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Truro connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly following substantially the center section line of Section 15‑T74N‑R26W to a point approximately 500 feet west of E ¼ Corner Section 15­-T74N‑R26W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 500 feet north of E ¼ Corner Section 15‑T74N‑R26W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 14 and 11‑T74N‑R26W to a point approximately 600 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 11‑T74N‑R26W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 600 feet east of the W ¼ Corner said Section 11; thence easterly following substantially the center section line of Sections 11 and 12‑T74N‑R26W to the Madison‑Warren County line at a point near the E ¼ Corner Section 12‑T74N‑R26W, Madison County (W ¼ Corner Section 7‑T74N‑R25W, Warren County).

 

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 400, Madison County, Iowa.

 

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Beginning on the east corporation line of the Town of Truro connecting with North Street; thence east to a point approximately 500 feet west of the E ¼ Corner of Section 15‑T74N-R26W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 500 feet north of the E ¼ Corner of Section 15‑T74N-­R26W; thence north following substantially the section line to a point approximately 740 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 11‑T74N‑R26W; thence curving in a northeasterly and easterly direction to a point approximately 740 feet east of the W ¼ Corner Section 11‑T74N‑R26W; thence easterly following substantially the ¼ Section line thru Sections 11 & 12‑T74N‑R26W to the Madison-­Warren County line at a point near the E ¼ Corner Section 12‑T74N-­R26W, Madison County (W ¼ Corner Section 7‑T74N‑R25W, Warren County).

 

Designation to become effective upon completion and opening to traffic of Relocation State 400 more specifically Madison-­Warren Project FN‑345.
